Aggravating Factors

Sun burn, frictions, injuries, stress, etc. are some of the risk factors of vitiligo. Vitiligo itself cannot be considered as a serious disease; however people with the condition might have some autoimmune disorders. Autoimmune disorders develop when the immune system attack own tissues and organs. The immune system in vitiligo patients appears to damage the pigment cells (melanocytes) in the skin. A considerable number of patients with vitiligo are suffering from at least one or other autoimmune and metabolic disorder such as thyroid problems or diabetes.
